COST AND TERMS OF PAYMENT

Payments are in three equal parcels: the first with the signature of the contract, the second upon delivery of the preliminary plan, and the third upon delivery of the planting plan.

The SIX STEPS of Izzy’s landscape design process ensure that customers are integral to the conceptualization of their yard.  The steps are:

Questionnaire

Interview

Proposal

Site analysis

Preliminary plan

Master Plan

1. QUESTIONNAIRE

Potential customers receive a questionnaire to fill-in prior to their first extended interview with the designer.  The answers offer insight to the designer on the customers’ vision and dreams for their yard, and help identify special issues that must be accounted for during the design process.

2. INTERVIEW

This interview offers the opportunity for the customers and designer to get to know each other, and allows the designer to refine her understanding of what the customer is looking for. The answers to the questionnaire offer a flexible reference for the conversation.

3. PROPOSAL

Shortly after the interview, the designer submits a proposal that scopes the project in detail and describes costs and other conditions.  The approval of this proposal leads to the signature of the contract.

4. SITE ANALYSIS

Upon approval of the proposal , the designer performs a site analysis that includes:

(a) Measuring the property and all existing hardscape

(b) Making an inventory of existing plants

(c) Noting light conditions at different times of the day

  1. (d)Making notes of problem spots  (e.g., drainage)

(e) Creating a base map from the above data

5. PRELIMINARY PLAN

The preliminary plan is a sketch of the designer’s vision for the project, and reflects interactive input from the customer.

6. PLANTING PLAN

Upon approval of the preliminary plan, the designer drafts a planting plan and compiles an accompanying plant list. These are the detailed documents that the contractor needs for installation. Your final package contains: 3 blueprints (for each planting and hardscape plans), a colored laminated copy of the planting plan, plants list, landscape notes, and design intent.
